1 John 1:9 - AIT - "Forgiven and Forgotten"

When you confess your sins, does God hand you a bill? In a great many churches, forgiveness comes with a price — an absolution, and then a penance, a set number of prayers to say to "make satisfaction" before the matter is truly settled. This message asks one plain question: is that how God actually forgives? Walking straight through Scripture, we find something far better.

You confess directly to God — and to a trusted brother or sister, not of necessity a priest — and the moment you ask, you are forgiven, freely, with no quota to pay off. And He doesn't just forgive it. He forgets it — removes it as far as the east is from the west, casts it into the depths of the sea, and remembers it no more. Because the bill was already paid, in full, on a cross. Come with empty hands. It is finished, and it is free.

About the Podcast

Be Still and Know
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Scripture, taught slowly and without rush. Be Still offers full expository sermons that walk carefully through the text, plus shorter midweek episodes to steady your week. Named for the verse my grandmother held close all her life — and offered now as a place to stop, listen, and remember who God is.
In a loud and hurried world, come and be still.

I'm Jeff — the heart behind Be Still and Know. This show started from a simple desire: to slow down and actually sit with God's Word, without the rush. It's named for Psalm 46:10, my grandmother's favorite verse — "Be still, and know that I am God." Every episode, I try to walk through Scripture honestly and carefully, paired with original songs, as a place for you to pause in the middle of a noisy week and be reminded of who God is. I'm glad you're here.
